Main responsibilities
Daniel is responsible for the strategy and growth of Aviva Investors’ integrated Private Markets business (real estate, infrastructure, private debt, multi-asset and nature-based solutions) and Liquid Markets (Credit, Equities, and Multi-Asset and Macro) functions. He oversees around 400 investment professionals responsible for fund and asset management, research, investment specialists, trading, portfolio implementation, strategy and governance.
Daniel is a member of Aviva Investors’ Executive team and heads the Private Markets and Liquid Markets Senior Leadership teams.
Daniel joined Aviva Investors in 2018 and was appointed CIO in June 2023.
Experience and qualifications
Previously, Daniel was Chief Investment Officer - Real Assets, a role he was promoted to in February 2021, having joined the business as Managing director, Real Estate, in 2018.
Daniel has more than 25 years’ experience in UK and continental European real assets. Prior to joining Aviva Investors, Daniel held the role of Head of Continental European Real Estate Investment at Standard Life Investments, where he was instrumental in repositioning and significantly growing the business in the region since 2008. He joined Standard Life Investments in 2000, holding a number of positions across portfolio, development and fund management as well as being a member of the global real estate leadership team.
Prior to this he worked as an Investment Manager at Merchant City Properties between 1997 and 2000, and started his career in 1994 in consultancy. Daniel holds a BSc in Quantity Surveying and an IPF Diploma in Real Estate Investment and Finance. He is also a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
