Main responsibilities
Riona Bowhay is a Senior Macro Stewardship Analyst at the Aviva Investors Sustainable Finance Centre for Excellence. She works with Chief Responsible Investment Officer, Steve Waygood, to drive systemic change in financial markets. Engaging with policy makers and regulators around the world, the team seeks to address market failures on sustainability issues to support the creation of a sustainable financial system. Such issues include climate change, biodiversity loss and antimicrobial resistance.
Experience and qualifications
Riona joined Aviva Investors following six years working in consulting and has deep, practical knowledge on transition plans, non-financial data assurance, TCFD reporting and climate governance.
In 2022/23, she spent a one-year secondment to the Transition Plan Taskforce Secretariat, leading the development of the Implementation Guidance to set the gold standard for transition plan development and disclosure. Riona has experience integrating climate-related matters into financial reporting, including contributing to guidance for the Climate Disclosures Standards Board (now part of ISSB).
She holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Sheffield in Accounting and Financial Management and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants for England and Wales.
